Our Story

“Sofra” is the table, set.

In Turkish, sofra is not a piece of furniture: it is the moment the table is laid and everyone gathers around it. It is the word grandmothers use when they call the family to eat. We chose that name because it is exactly what we wanted to build in Barcelona.

We are a family-run restaurant, born to represent authentic Turkish cooking: the charcoal of the mangal grill, lamb slow-cooked in the tandır oven, mezes arriving in waves with no hurry to leave. The recipes are the ones from home; the technique, unchanged for generations.

You will find us in the heart of the Eixample, at Carrer de Mallorca 202 — doors open from Turkish breakfast in the morning until the last long conversation of the night.
